I haven't been to - Gino - one of the last of the old-world Italian restaurants that were the NY scene for so many years -
A month ago - when news came that Gino's business was off 70% - the lease was about to expire - the restaurant's condition could only be described as terminal -
Then - news today - Gino - which opened with same terrific red-sauce in 1945 - lives - not only did they renew their lease (5 years) - but - the landlord gave them a rent reduction -
Was in New York last March and happened upon this little spot. Nice charm and great old school feel. Nothing pretentious about this place, good home italian cooking. I go to eat, not to look at art food. Waiter spoke broken english and was very nice. Had the best Manhattan I've ever been served. I ordered the Meatball and Spaghetti - Great and the Fiancee got Chicken Parm - she enjoyed as well. Next time i'm in the Big Apple, I'll be back.
