Magazine Po-Boy

Passed it a thousand times - but always headed to destination food spots - this time - trying to find eats for the flight while enroute from Tulane to MSY was proving difficult - what the hell - it couldn't be that bad - and of course - it was very good -

Lacked any sense of decor - very large main dining room - at the end of which - three steps - a raised platform - pass (window) for ordering - behind that - the kitchen - no shiny stainless steel - the real deal - well worn - seasoned - 

Ordered two Oyster Po Boys - eventually consumed someplace over Arkansas or Tennessee at 30,000 - they were perfect - even after going through the X Ray machine at the airport -

But back to the Magazine Po-Boy Sandwich Shop -

Two wonderful women behind the counter - one taking orders - one cookin' - both cared that I got what I needed - 

Ordered a warm breakfast biscuit ($1.25) to "tide me over" - double sized - lightly buttered - almost crumbled on touch - so homemade it might have been cooked to order - when I finally left the shop - asked for another one for my wife - who had been patiently waiting in the car - she's lucky it made it to the car - so wanted another bite - 

Drinking a diet coke - waiing for our Po Boys - in walks a local - wearing the uniform of an appliance service tech - listened to the casual chit chat - then he asked for - and received - bread pudding - took me by surprise - it was 10:00 in the morning - who would have thunk - they warmed it up - when he got it - I felt envy - had to get one - defy logic - if you're an adult - you can have ice cream for breakfast - why not bread pudding - at 10:00 in the morning -

Alas - that was the last bread pudding (from the previous day) - I could stop back - later that day - that was not going to happen - unless I intentionally missed our flight -

Definitely had to put bread pudding from Magazine Po Boy Sandwich Shop on the to do list for the next visit to NOLA - and - a few more Po Boys
